The seeds of Beehive State Payee started while waiting in a DMV office in a rural area. Over and over, people came to complete their business and were turned away because they didn’t have an appointment. They were told they could set it up online or on their phones, which was exasperating to many of these seasoned citizens. They couldn’t understand why they couldn’t just make the appointment because they were standing right there. Surely there was a way to help vulnerable people with the technology, frustration and potential exploitation.
After talking together, Anne and Becky found that there were people paying for services that would be provided by Medicaid. There just weren’t any Medicaid Providers in these areas to help them, so these individuals had to seek out and pay for financial services on their own.
We decided to fill that need.
In 2020, Beehive State Payee (after so, so much paperwork) was up and running. Working entirely remotely, we were able to reach every county of Utah and set in place the processes to serve hundreds of individuals.
We specialize in supporting those who are isolated or have no family support, people with physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, aging adults and clients who’ve been financially exploited or need safeguards in place.
We believe people thrive with the right structure and financial support. Privacy and independence are essential.
